What is it?
The Udell Matrix© is a powerful process that has been developed over 20 years by Laurence Udell. In essence, it is a philosophy for achieving Growth and Transformation through Learning and Discovery. It uses a framework to help the individual to become aligned with their goals on a business and personal level.
It consists of four main elements, known as the 4 A’s©.
These are: -
- Adventure
- Awareness
- Authenticity
- Alignment
The 4A’s© is designed to engage and align all people behind the organisation’s vision, strategy and goals in order to achieve a fully aligned team. The 4A’s© model is used to assist people to fully understand the organisation’s purpose and the way in which they can align and achieve both business success and personal fulfilment. It seeks to challenge people to look at their beliefs and judgements at the conscious and subconscious level; their achievements, successes and failures, their personal vision and ambitions and how authentic and aligned they are as individuals. It encourages them to examine how much they are ‘at cause’ in their lives and how much they are ‘at effect’ – do they feel they are ultimately in charge of their lives or at the mercy of other people, events and circumstances – and they are encouraged to look at how they can become more ‘at cause’. The level to which each person takes this reflection is entirely up to them. However, the track record of success that this programme has achieved is testament to the level to which the majority of participants go to really uncover their authentic selves and bring more of their whole selves to work.
Fundamentally, it is designed to elicit information, pose questions and encourage self and guided reflection on the role of the leader, as both the leader of people and organisations and as a leader of oneself. Therefore, it is as equally applicable to the CEO as to managers, team leaders and all members of the organisation. This is key, as we believe that success at the organisational and personal level is directly connected to the well-being of the leader, including their psychological health, emotional health and intelligence, as well as their physical health.
