Organisational Design & Development Case Study
- Client: FTSE 100 PLC Retail
- Service: Value Driven Alignment
Client Situation
Well known High Street brand pursuing an aggressive policy of strategic and marketing change. A significant reorganisation had necessitated a distinct cultural shift for the Group, and new ways of working were implemented within the new Shared Services Unit
Our Role
- Facilitated series of regular, intensive workshops with new Senior Management Team, to develop new company’s values, vision and strategy
- Created framework for the new structure, created around Virtual Teams focusing on customers’ needs rather than on strict functional departments
- Provided competency-based ‘Select In’ process which reduced headcount to approximately one third of previous levels
Outputs
- New organisation delivered in 3 months rather than the expected 12 months (which itself was considered a tight timetable by the Group’s Board)
- £5m savings in staff costs in the first year
- £11m total savings in overheads through better purchasing and relationships with suppliers
- Tangible increase in morale despite across the board redundancies, with only one grievance procedure raised from 375 people affected
- Majority of the Board moved on to more senior positions within the Group
